Is it a coincidence that the most successful coaches, consultants, authors and speakers all host their own events? I think not. In fact, their events are a major contributing factor in their success.You may think that hosting an event is easy for them, because they ARE successful. However, I think that it is their event that made them who they are now. And no doubt, the more of a following you have, the bigger your list and the more you are known for your content, the bigger event you can host.However, have more than that. Here are three things successful event hosts have in common:
They know what they teach and they have systematized it. They have turned their brilliance into a signature system they can teach in a variety of formats. These formats can be online, at a 2 or 3 day event and in person in one on one coaching and in group masterminds or coaching groups.
The best part is that their clients want it in multiple formats. They may have signed up for an online course and then go to the live event to learn it in a 3 day intensive. Finally, they will sign up for a one on one coaching program where they will learn more of the same (and more) with support on how to implement it in their business. Add some accountability and you have another success story.
They know how to integrate their event with their business. In fact, their event is an essential part of their vision and their strategy. It is important to figure out how your event feeds into your business and how your business and other programs feed into your event. Just having an event to create a stronger bond with your clients is nice, but ultimately not an effective business strategy.
Once they have their strategy, they can put an event plan in place. Every aspect of their plan is in service of the strategy. They have a reason for everything they do, and they don’t fly by the seat of their pants. They plan their work and work their plan.
Successful coaches, consultants, authors and speakers don’t do it alone. They have support not only in the form of assistants, virtual or otherwise, but more importantly, they have a coach or mentor they can count on. They have someone who can answer their questions, bounce ideas off and give them direction when they need it. Someone they can trust to hold them accountable, believe in them and cheer them on to success.
